Yahoo Top Search 2008

Found an interesting websites, so will like to share with everyone.

Yahoo! Singapore's Top Searches 2008 takes the pulse of Singaporeans on the Web. It's a chance for us to showcase what you, our users, were buzzing about and looking for online throughout this year.

This year celebrity scandals from Hong Kong (Edison Chen) to Hollywood (Miley Cyrus) got Singaporeans all hot and bothered, but not as much as Mas Selamat Kastari's escape. A not-so-little spat between bloggers Dawn Yang and Xiaxue topped off a year of strong interest in hot celebrity women such as all three Beach.Ball.Babes, Megan Fox, and Liu Yi Fei.

It was also a year of firsts. Tragically, Lo Hwei Yen became Singapore's first victim of terrorism. We held a great first F1 night race - nevermind the road closures - and won our first ever Silver medal at the Beijing Olympics. Table tennis will never be the same again.

Finally, proving that Singaporeans are an eternally practical (read: money-minded) bunch, interest in the ups and downs - mostly downs - of SGX shares was high, as was bargain-hunting for $2 COEs, stretching our dollars with a currency converter, and - only in car-mad Singapore - visiting a website to monitor petrol pump prices.

Ugly Communters on MRT rides

I'm always feel proud to be a Singaporean as Singapore is politically stable & a safe country. But 1 thing i don dare to acknowledge of my citizen status when it come to manners. I deeply ashamed at how come Singaporeans, or those living in Singapore who never wish to learn their manners from other developed countries. Let me just quote 1 simple incident: MRT Rides. I can list countless of bad manners & selfishness just relating to mrt rides only.

1) Big Ticket Counter (i don really noe the actual name of that item)
As there was an increasing need for wheel-chairs or baby prams or bigger objects to pass thru those ticketing counter, MRT stations have inserted a bigger pass-thru ticket counter. Even though the counter has specifically stated to "GIVE WAY TO WHEEL CHAIRS & PRAMS". Still many communters ignore the msg, and even though they are healthy & skinny, they will still walk thru the big counter. They wont even give way to those who are waiting at the other side who need to use the counter to come out/in, even though they have wheelchairs or prams. So ple like me who has a prams, has to wait patiently & LONG for these LAZY ple to pass thru before I get to use the counter to exit! Y i say they are lazy, coz they can walk a few steps more to the normal counters, but they wan snatch the rights wif me... Worst are some who actually cut queue. I was waiting for these LAZY ple to pass thru, when more ple come along n follow closely behind these LAZY ple, doubling my waiting time....

2) Escalator
I notice a lot of developed countries like Japan, their ple are very discipline. They are able to follow the rules of keeping left on escalator. However, despite Singapore escalator has signs that indicate "Keep Left", no1 wan to follow. I find that this rule is so simple to follow, but i simply don understand how come singaporeans doesnt wan to follow. It's not like it gng to cost u $$ just to keep to the left?? It's really help u a lot, esp in times of need n u r in a hurry, u can use the right side to over-take, thereby saving u lot of time n trouble fr saying "Excuse Me"!

3) Boarding & Alighting from Trains
U notice the yellow signs on the floor? U heard of the PA systems annoucing & in the past education, "GIVE WAY TO ALIGHTING PASSANGERS"! So who has ever listen to this announcements? Nobody wan to line up and board the train in an orderly manners, after passengers have alighted! Come on, let's look at Taiwan & our neighbouring country: Malaysia. Their people all queue up and board in an orderly manners. But i seemly don understand y singaporean cant? If i'm alighting, sometimes i will push n knock hard at those who forced their way in when I'm havent even alight. And if i boarding, i will block those behind me fr boarding until the passengers have alighted. Nobody wan to educate them, den i use my body language to teach them!

4) Priority Seats
In the past, i tink there are only a few priority seats in a cabin. But now, all the corner seats are fixed with Priority Seats. So how "Priority" are these seats? For those bullies who will never give up their seats to sit? Then in the 1st place, don even give them a chance to sit. I tink in Japan, priority seats are only occupied by the old, handicapped, pregnant & with small children. If there are none of these ard, nobody will even wan to sit on these seats even though the train is crowded & all normal seats are occupied. This shd be the case for our train. Don allow any1 to sit, only those with special needs then can sit. Singapore is a Fine Country. So let's fine those who sit there! And how abt issuing those in need a special mrt pass, so those with pass are allow to sit. Those w/o pass & sit there, will be fined immediately.

Next, even though the priority seats are occupied, why cant the other commuters give up seats? Juz take these mrng for eg, i saw a pregnant lady who is ard 7mth preggie. Nobody offer her a seat even though she stood in front of 5 people. 2 of them wear teen girls, 1 working young man, 1 man with a bit of white hair, n 1 auntie at the priority seat. I'm disappointed at the teen girls & young man. Why cant every1 put others in their shoes? How do u feel wen u grow up n preggie 1 day, or ur wife is heavily prgnt, n no1 refused to give up seats for u/her? Or when u grow old, with weak legs, no1 give up seats for u?

5) Eat & Drink or Loud Music
This is a public place. This is not a hawker centre, restuarant, kitchen, canteen or pantry, so y do communters eat & drink on a train? Too bored & hungry? Eat in the correct places 1st b4 u board the train! A lot of these rules-breaking are caused by students. So it's time school provide these educations beside sex educations!

Loud music: This is a train when ple use as a transport. It is not a discotheque or ballroom or karaoke room. Why play loud music n blast other communters' ears. Have some self-discpline n keep the volume to yourself. If u only like loud music, den stay at home n listen till enough, then u step out of the hse.

I guess there are more problems that can be found on the mrt rides, but above are those that i cant stand the most.

It really shows the ugly side of Singapore. When can the mrt spend more money to educate the public. I'm sure if we have a better behaviour in the mrt, it will attracts more tourists and also show the world that not only we are a stable country, we are also very polite & well-manner!

Please.. someone do something...

Pengerang Trip on 30 Nov 08

Hb's collegues & sis went to Pengerang last mth. They told hb tt the seafood there was very cheap, esp the lobster. So hb brought me and his friend, Kwek to eat seafood on 30 Nov!

Kwek fetch us to my parents' hse where we left my son at their care. Next we head towards Changi Jetty to board the bumboat to Pengerang. We were told that the boat will only leave upon 12 passengers. We waited for nearly an hr, and still doesnt not mit the 12 passengers requirement. That's wen the boat owner say tt if we are willing to fork out more cash, 9 of us can book a boat over. Initial boat ride cost is S$9 per pax. But to avoid waiting longer, we end up paying S$12 ea. Oh, kids has no discount. Same price of S$12! Lucky we din bring son along. Haha~
The boaty ride was 45min long... Kwek & Hb fell asleep while me busy playing my Psp! Haha~
Next, we shared a cab wif an auntie, who seems to look like a local Pengerang resident. In fact, she is smart to share cab wif us. As the cab ride to the town area, where the restaurants are located, is actually RM20. Since she has shared wif us, she only nid to pay RM5. If she took the cab by herself, she will end up paying RM20 alone. Smart lady ar? But then, she is kind enuff to advise us which restaurants are good for us to try. And she seems to noe the taxi driver. So for our return trip, the driver gave us a name card so that he can drive us back after our meal.
Wen we reach Lucky Restaurant, it was quite crowded. Esp a few tour coaches brought some tourists to that restaurant for meals. We try to order the food b4 the tourists settled down at their table. But still our food took almost an hr to be served! Still, it is deserved the wait!

Hb & Kwek enjoying the food
See how big the lobster? Bigger than my palm!
We ordered:
1) 1 kg Black Pepper Crab (ard 2 crabs) (RM40 per kg)
2) 1 kg Chilli Crab (ard 2 crabs)
3) 1 kg Lobster (ard 3 lobsters= served 6pax= RM100)
4) 400g of Drunken Prawns
5) White Pomfret
6) 6 nos. Fried Bun
7) 3 bowl of white rice
8) 3 nos. Coconut
9) 3 Canned Drinks
Total Bill: RM270 only!!!
Which is equivalent to RM90 per pax, S$40 per pax woh!
In fact the food we ordered, is enuff to feed more than 3pax.. haha.. the shop owner aso tink we ordered too much. Still, we finished all! We wanted to tabao the lobster for my parents.. but the restaurant staff said that we need to wait an hour just to tabao 1 kg of lobster! She said if i intend to tabao, we should have order together with our main order. Then the cook can prepared on time. As there are continous inflow of tour groups, therefore side order need to wait for these tour grps order are cooked, before they can serve us. So no chance.. nvm. They are gng desaru tis sat also. And think will include lobster lunch also.
On our way back, i tabao some lao po bing for them. Coz like very bad, din buy anyting for them. Taxi uncle is kind enuff to stop by and let me grab some food items. Haha...
Back at the jetty, waited 30min b4 we got a boat back to Sgp. Spent half a day juz for a seafood meal. Quite enjoyable if it is once in a while. haha~

Body Massage

When's the last time you went for a nice body massage?

I juz went for 1 massage ytd. The massage was great, but i was quite unsad & angry with the service after the massage.

I have bought the massage package quite some time ago. Tink 10mths ago (based on my installment bill). The package was 12 sessions, and it consider expensive to me. The distance was quite far, at Raffles Plc. Initially i have no intention to sign up, but i tink i give in very easily. So far i went for 7 sessions only, and i'm quite pissed off with the beauty advisors. They are very persistance and keep asking me to upgrade my package. I really enjoy the massage & scrub. The beauty therapists are very nice. But the advisors & distance & costs really put me off. I still left wif 5 sessions.. And imagine i have to endure their persistance of making me sign up more...

One of the consultants even come up wif a very funny lie lor. She mentioned tt fr Jan 09 onwards, they are not gng to give free scrubs & tummy wrap. Scrubs will costs $70 & tummy wraps at $60. If i sign up more now, i still entitled to the free scrubs & wraps! She muz tink i'm easy to cheat ar. Massage + Scrub, other spas are selling at only $80. Their massage already costs $120, excluding GST. Plus the distance & time i travelled down & up... How i wish i can stop gng now. But i gng to lose $500 worth of services. Tink i rather spend 15mins of rejecting them then to sacrifice my $ hor?

Anyone wan to go for a nice spas, let me noe. I can bring u along, n it will speed up my sessions! Only for women are welcome, as i was told that men only have massage n eye masks. No tummy wrap or scrubs. $120 worth of massage & eye masks. I rather go for facial then!

Economy is bad already.. I muz muz muz NOT sign anymore instalment bills!

Genting-Sin - Day 3

Woke up at 9am, pack & change before heading for breakfast. Buffet breakfast tis time round! But Hb din like the buffet spread. After breakfast, it's casino again. Does it sound sian to u??

Nevertheless, hb won some $$, and he lose them again at other tiger machine. For me, i finally won back my RM200! Overall, i lose RM30. But still, i'm glad tt i din lose tt much. Wen it time to stop, i quickly drag hb out of the casino! Shopping again + Lunch + Check Out. Brought a toy dog for son, couple keychains for ourselves, necklace for myself, a DOB bear for hb's godsis (cant find our birthdates, so din buy the bears for ourselves) & tabao 6pcs of Bird Nest Tarts for ourselves n Parent-in-Law. I intend to buy for my family, but it doesnt last long or it spoilt. Cost RM5 per tart! I'm happy tt i ate 3 tarts in total for tis Genting Trip. Hee~!

Overall, i spend only S$250 for this whole trip. Other expenses like hotel, coach, food: fully sponsored by Hb (who called him to cheat my feelings! wahaha~!).

Genting - KL - Day 2

Woke up at 9am and after a quick change, we head to the bus terminal to secure 2 tix down to KL. We took a bus at 10.30am, and had a little & simple breakfast, juz in case we vomit out on our bus ride down to KL. Initially we tog the bus was driving super fast and estimate the possibility to reach within 30min. However, KL is struck wif Traffic Jams everywhere.. so we still end up taking an hr long bus ride.

Our itiniary is to go KLCC for A&W, follow by sungei wang Megamart, and take a bus back by 7pm.

Since we were alighted near some train stations, we try out their KL trains, took a monorail, and then change to a LRT. The changing of trains is really sucks! Unlike Sgp, u don have to exit the tix station when changing from MRT to LRT. In KL, u have to totally alight from the monorail station and walk ard 1km to the LRT station. The train tix, you have to purhcase directly from the counter, no tix machine ard. :( So have to queue for a while if the station is crowded during peak period.

Upon reaching KLCC, 1st store we stepped into is the A&W. We ordered my fav LARGE root beer float & curly fries. Damn delicious woh.. After our lunch, we browse ard in KLCC, din buy anything, except that i spot a very nice Billabong polo Tees for my son. I was quite broke as i lose RM 200 in casino. And the Tee is not cheap, RM 109, equivalent of S$50! So i left the billabong shop empty handled. A bit regret nvr buy..

Next we went to Sungei Wang by a cab. A lot of mini shops like far east, bugis village. However, all the clothes are not my size, or quality is bad. So after walking round n round, we end up at Metro & Isetan, where i brought more of my son's clothes & 1 blouse. Saving the blouse for my CNY.

It was raining wif thunderstorm wen v plan to head to the bus terminal. So we took a quick dinner, and was guided by the shop assistant to the LRT, where we took the train back to the bus terminal. Bought tix back to Genting at 6pm. And thanks to the city jams & rain, we reach back Genting at 7.30! 1hr 30min.. felt asleep in the bus.

Nite time, a bit of shopping & more casino. Hb was addicted to casino, while i was very sian, as i keep losing. Hb won a bit & treat me to a slice of cake & supper buffet! The supper buffet sucks! Very little food, although it only costs RM12 (S$5+) per pax. Wasnt full, but glad i had a cake b4 tt buffet. I left casino for the hotel rm alone again!!! Hb stay put to win some more $ as he lose his winnings at the table again. He totally has no luck for the table games.
